Breastfeeding tips for new moms

Here are 10 breastfeeding tips for the new moms out there:

1: Patience, Mama!
Breastfeeding might take time, so be patient with yourself and your baby. It’s a learning process for both of you, take it in stride!
 2: Stay Hydrated and Nourished
Remember, mama, you need to take care of yourself to nourish your little one. Drink plenty of water and indulge in nutritious meals to keep your energy levels up.
 3: Seek Support
Reach out for help when needed. Whether it’s from your partner, family, or a lactation consultant, having support can make a world of difference in your breastfeeding journey.
 4: Find a Comfortable Position
Experiment with different breastfeeding positions until you find what works best for you and your baby. A comfortable position ensures both of you enjoy the experience.
 5: Skin-to-Skin Bonding
Skin-to-skin contact is magical! Embrace this beautiful bonding time with your baby as it promotes closeness and helps with breastfeeding success.
 6: Nipple Care
Be gentle with your nipples. Use a nourishing cream (like Breast Balm from Earthley) or your breast milk to soothe any soreness or dryness.
⏰ 7: Feed Frequently
In the early days, babies need to nurse frequently for proper growth and nourishment. Let your baby set the feeding schedule and follow their cues.
 8: Boobies on Demand!
Don’t worry about following a strict feeding schedule. Trust your baby’s instincts and feed them on demand. Your body will adjust accordingly.
 9: Burping Baby
Remember to gently burp your baby after each feeding to prevent discomfort from gas.
‍♀️10: Relax and Enjoy the Moment
Breastfeeding is not just about nutrition; it’s a precious bonding time. Take a deep breath, relax, and cherish these intimate moments with your little one.

Breast milk is nature’s perfect superfood Designed to meet the unique nutritional needs of a growing baby!

The ultimate immune booster: Breast milk is an immune boosting powerhouse, full of antibodies and immune cells passed on from Mom that help the baby’s developing immune system fight off infections and illnesses. Several studies have shown that breastfeeding reduces the risk of gastrointestinal infections, respiratory tract infections, and otitis media in infants. Breastfeeding may even help to reduce the risks of diseases like diabetes, asthma, and childhood leukemia (American Journal of Epidemiology 2019).

Perfect nutrition: As baby grows, breast milk adapts to provide proper nutrients, including proteins, fats, carbohydrates, vitamins, and minerals, essential for a baby’s growth and development.

Brain food! A long-term study published in The Lancet (2015) demonstrated that babies exclusively breastfed for the first six months showed higher cognitive scores at ages 3 and 7 years compared to formula-fed babies.

There are breastfeeding benefits for mom, too! A study published in Obstetrics & Gynecology in 2017 suggests that breastfeeding is associated with a reduced risk of postpartum depression. Breastfeeding moms also experience physical benefits – breastfeeding helps the uterus contract, promoting faster postpartum recovery.

Breastfeeding is a win-win for mom and baby!

Even breastfeeding for a short period of time has significant benefits. And if you tried, and you can’t, it’s ok – don’t stress, mama!

Mom, no matter what you’re doing a great job!

Trust your instincts, love your baby, enjoy the little moments, and embrace the beauty of breastfeeding. Remember, there’s no one-size-fits-all approach – do what feels right for you and your little bundle of joy.

My first time with the Oakbrook office and staff has been the kind of experience I’ve longed for. Although I have only been there twice(in one week), it’s the most genuine communication I’ve had from a doctor’s office. I’ve been searching for a practice that treats our family as more than just a number, and I’m truly grateful for the care and attention to detail they’ve provided. The follow-up phone calls and the extra check-up were instrumental in demonstrating their practice’s excellent understanding of bedside manners and true thoughtfulness that his sickness matters.

We absolutely loved this place. Everybody was very nice and accommodating. Viktoria took her time to listen all our concerns and respond to all our questions. She did so well in explaining everything. The facility is very clean and nice. It was pleasure visiting this office.

Jessica, Jacki and all the Well Rooted Staff are amazing. Our Pediatrician retired a few years back and we were in limbo for several years, never feeling like any Dr we saw actually listened to us. After our 1st visit at Well Rooted we knew we finally found “the one”. They listen and take the time to discuss options. They support the patient and put YOU 1st.

We are new patients at Well-Rooted. We were greeted by the friendly receptionist who answered all our questions. Even though it’s a temporary location, it was very well organized and clean. We saw Allison for our visit. She was knowledgeable, friendly and took the time to listen and answer any of our questions. She put our children at ease and made the appointment very easy. We are so grateful for this pediatric office and look forward to building a relationship with the staff!
