Kristina Hughes is a board-certified Family Nurse Practitioner with over 10 years of experience. She graduated with both her Bachelor's and Master's of Science in Nursing from The Ohio State University and began her career in conventional medicine, where she built a strong foundation in evidence-based care. A cancer diagnosis at a young age profoundly changed her perspective on health and healing. Following treatment, Kristina sought a deeper understanding of how to support long-term health beyond conventional approaches, leading her to a deeper dive into functional, root-cause medicine. With the opportunity to live abroad in Germany with her husband and kids, she took time away from clinical practice to continue her education and broaden her global perspective on health and wellness. Kristina returned to practice with a renewed sense of purpose and found alignment at Well Rooted, where she is passionate about partnering with patients to support healing and lasting wellness. Outside of the clinic, she loves spending time with her three children, continuing to learn more about functional medicine, and traveling the world. She believes that health is what allows us to fully experience and enjoy life. Kristina sees adult functional patients, both in person in  our St. Charles Office and via Telehealth.

As my desire to care for patients across the lifespan grew, I earned my Family Nurse Practitioner degree from Purdue University Global and became a Family Nurse Practitioner. Throughout my career, I have remained committed to treating the whole person and helping patients achieve lasting health through a holistic, root-cause approach. During my clinical training at Well Rooted, I also discovered a special passion for women’s health and hormone optimization. I love helping women better understand their bodies, navigate hormonal changes, and feel empowered to take control of their health. I believe the best healthcare is built on partnership, education, and trust. My goal is to create individualized treatment plans that combine evidence-based medicine with functional and holistic approaches, empowering each patient to achieve optimal health, vitality, and well-being.
